Some metal products are more economical than others when only considering initial cost.  Some material is lighter than other and some products are more durable.  One must always keep in mind that the attributes found in the material to be used will also affect the machining process required for achieving flawless precision parts.  Machining time will also vary depending on the material used, for example, when machining a soft material as aluminum, the feeds and speeds would be faster in contrast to stainless steel.  The harder the material, the cut speeds and feeds would have to be slower.
